Beyond Traditional Financing: Grants & Government Funding

July 19 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am EDT

FREE

As biotech continues to expand and evolve, emerging companies look beyond traditional financing models to fund the scientific and business efforts needed for success.  Not only is the competition for equity funding fierce, but there are also significant ramifications on company ownership and control.  An increasing number of nonprofit organizations are both driving research with grant funding and seeking innovative sources of funding.

Accordingly, grants and government funding are becoming increasingly prevalent as a means to finance emerging companies.  However, such grants and government funding can be:

  • difficult to identify and obtain,
  • often require knowledge of the inner workings of various funding sources and
  • approval from expert stakeholders with deep domain knowledge.

Our panel of insiders managing the grant and government funding processes and entrepreneurs who have successfully obtained funding will provide further insight into this important avenue for financing.

Speakers:

  • Skip Irving, MBA, Board Member, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
  • Michael McGinnis, MBA, MS, Managing Director, Government Practice Lead, Latham BioPharm Group
  • Michael Salgaller, PhD, Unit Supervisor, Invention Development and Marketing, National Cancer Institute Technology Transfer Center
  • Don Straus, PhD, Director, CEO, CSO, and Founder, First Light Biosciences

Moderator:

  • Danielle Peters, President & Founder, Magnet Strategy Group
